ROUTE 1 ¡ VISA ON ARRIVAL

Spanish Passport Holder

If you travel on a valid Spanish passport, no advance tourist-visa application is normally required. Eligible Spanish citizens receive a multiple-entry 90-day visit permission valid over a 180-day period.

Check Spanish Entry Rules
ROUTE 2 ¡ CHECK OR APPLY

Foreign Resident in Spain

Your TIE card proves legal residence, but it does not replace your passport. Your nationality and residence-permit validity decide whether you need advance approval or qualify for a conditional route.

Dubai Visa for Spain Residents—answer in 20 seconds: Spanish citizen? You normally receive a visa on arrival. Non-Spanish citizen living in Spain? Check your passport and Spanish residence permit before booking; you may need a pre-arranged visa or may qualify for a special 14-day or 60-day route.

Do Spain Residents Need a Visa for Dubai?

Dubai Visa for Spain Residents rules depend mainly on the passport used for travel, then on the validity and type of residence document where a special route applies.

This Spain-specific guide is part of our broader Dubai Visa for EU Residents guide, which explains the difference between EU citizenship, an EU residence permit and nationality-based UAE entry requirements.

Status in SpainDubai/UAE visa positionWhat to do
Spanish citizensNormally eligible for a 90-day visa on arrivalNo advance tourist-visa application
EU citizens living in SpainUsually visa on arrival when their passport is on the eligible listCheck the passport nationality
Non-EU residents living in SpainMany need a pre-arranged visa; selected permit holders may qualify for a conditional routeCheck passport and residence permit
A residence permit does not replace passport eligibility. Family members with different passports can have different visa routes.

Dubai Visa for Spain Residents: Who Can Apply From Spain?

Foreign nationals legally living in Spain can apply when their passport requires advance UAE approval. The route depends on nationality, Spanish residence status and travel purpose.

Employees, Students, Dependants and Other Legal Residents

  • Employees: apply with a valid passport and work-based Spanish residence document.
  • Students: submit a current student permit, passport and photograph.
  • Family dependants: spouses, children and dependent-card holders are assessed individually.
  • Digital nomads: Spain’s digital-nomad residence status proves legal residence but does not replace passport eligibility.
  • Permanent and long-term residents: provide the current TIE or long-term residence card.
  • Other permit holders: EU Blue Card and other valid residence-permit holders can request a document review.
Updated residence-permit route: India, Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand, the Philippines, Kenya and South Africa are included in the selected-nationality route for qualifying holders of valid permits from accepted countries, including EU member states. Review the official ICP announcement.

Popular Nationalities Applying for a Dubai Visa From Spain

Living legally in Spain can support residence evidence, but UAE entry rules still follow the passport used for travel. Common applicants include:

South Asian Residents

Indian, Pakistani, Nepalese and Sri Lankan passport holders should check nationality-specific requirements before applying.

Filipino Residents

Filipino TIE holders may qualify for the updated selected-nationality residence-permit route when all conditions are met.

African Residents

Nigerian and Egyptian residents generally need advance review based on passport and supporting documents.

Bangladeshi Residents

DubaiVisa.com does not currently accept Bangladeshi-passport applications; use an eligible official or authorised route.

See our dedicated Indian, Pakistani, Filipino and Nigerian passport guides for additional nationality guidance.

Can Spanish Citizens Travel to Dubai Without an Advance Visa?

Yes. Spanish passport holders are included in the multiple-entry 90-day visa-on-arrival category, valid over 180 days. Check the permission recorded by immigration.

Spanish travellers should carry:

  • A passport valid for at least six months
  • A confirmed return or onward ticket
  • Hotel confirmation or UAE host address
  • Travel insurance and evidence of funds if requested

Confirm the current airline list on the Emirates UAE visa page. Entry remains at immigration’s discretion.

Dubai Visa From Spain by Travel Purpose

Selecting the correct purpose helps the document review team understand your trip and identify the most suitable tourist or transit option.

Dubai Visa for Tourism

For holidays, sightseeing, shopping and leisure travel. A 30-day single-entry option is the most common choice.

Family and Friend Visits

For visiting relatives or friends in Dubai, Abu Dhabi or another emirate. Host details or proof of relationship may be requested.

Short Business Visits

For meetings, exhibitions and conferences. A tourist or visit visa does not authorise employment or paid work in the UAE.

Dubai Stopovers

Eligible passengers leaving the airport during a short connection can consider a 48-hour or 96-hour transit visa.

Compare the wider requirements in our UAE tourist visa guide, or start directly from the Dubai visa application page.

Documents Required for a Dubai Visa from Spain

Prepare clear, uncropped colour files. In our experience, incomplete passport edges and unreadable Spanish residence cards are common causes of avoidable document-review delays.

For Foreign Residents in Spain

  • Passport bio page with at least six months’ validity
  • Recent colour passport-style photograph on a clear background
  • Valid Spanish residence permit, residence certificate or relevant status document
  • Passport cover page when requested
  • Flight, accommodation or host information when requested

For TIE Card Holders

  • The passport that will be used to enter the UAE
  • Clear front-and-back copy of the current TIE card
  • Recent passport photograph
  • Supporting family or child documents where applicable
Check for exact matches: the full name, birth date, passport number and nationality must be consistent across the application and uploaded documents.

Dubai Visa for Spain TIE Holders and Residence Permit Holders

The TIE—Tarjeta de Identidad de Extranjero—documents a foreign national’s legal administrative status in Spain. Spain’s Ministry of the Interior explains that the TIE proves legal residence but the holder’s passport remains the identity document. For UAE travel, the TIE supports residence evidence; it does not replace passport-based eligibility.

Common searches: “Dubai visa para titulares de TIE,” “visado de Dubái con residencia española,” “UAE visa for TIE card holders” and “Dubai visa with Spanish residence permit” all require the same passport-and-residence check.

Does a TIE Card Change UAE Visa Eligibility?

It can affect the available route for selected nationalities holding qualifying residence permits, but it does not automatically grant visa-free entry. Other non-EU passport holders will usually need advance UAE approval.

Documents for a UAE Visa With a Spanish Residence Permit

  • Passport valid for the intended journey
  • Current TIE or Spanish residence card, front and back
  • Recent photograph and contact information
  • Travel details or additional evidence if requested
TIE is not a UAE visa. Travel with the same passport used in the application and carry the original Spanish residence document when it formed part of your eligibility.

Can Spain Residents Extend a UAE Tourist Visa?

Extension eligibility depends on the visa category and the issuing authority’s rules at the time. Some tourist entry permits may be extendable, while the special 60-day residence-permit visa announced by ICP is single entry and non-extendable. The related 14-day category may be extended once.

What to carry at UAE immigration

  • The passport used in the application
  • A printed or offline copy of the UAE eVisa, if pre-arranged
  • Valid Spanish residence permit, when relevant to eligibility
  • Return/onward ticket and accommodation details

An approved UAE tourist visa can generally be used to enter through Dubai or another eligible UAE airport and to travel between Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and the other Emirates. There is no separate “Dubai-only” tourist visa for domestic travel inside the UAE.

For extension, overstay and in-country status guidance, see the current UAE visa extension and overstay guide. Check eligibility before the visa expires; do not assume every visa category can be extended.
