Your TIE card proves legal residence, but it does not replace your passport. Your nationality and residence-permit validity decide whether you need advance approval or qualify for a conditional route.
Do Spain Residents Need a Visa for Dubai?
Dubai Visa for Spain Residents rules depend mainly on the passport used for travel, then on the validity and type of residence document where a special route applies.
This Spain-specific guide is part of our broader Dubai Visa for EU Residents guide, which explains the difference between EU citizenship, an EU residence permit and nationality-based UAE entry requirements.
| Status in Spain | Dubai/UAE visa position | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Spanish citizens | Normally eligible for a 90-day visa on arrival | No advance tourist-visa application |
| EU citizens living in Spain | Usually visa on arrival when their passport is on the eligible list | Check the passport nationality |
| Non-EU residents living in Spain | Many need a pre-arranged visa; selected permit holders may qualify for a conditional route | Check passport and residence permit |

Dubai Visa From Spain by Travel Purpose
Selecting the correct purpose helps the document review team understand your trip and identify the most suitable tourist or transit option.
Dubai Visa for Tourism
For holidays, sightseeing, shopping and leisure travel. A 30-day single-entry option is the most common choice.
Family and Friend Visits
For visiting relatives or friends in Dubai, Abu Dhabi or another emirate. Host details or proof of relationship may be requested.
Short Business Visits
For meetings, exhibitions and conferences. A tourist or visit visa does not authorise employment or paid work in the UAE.
Dubai Stopovers
Eligible passengers leaving the airport during a short connection can consider a 48-hour or 96-hour transit visa.
Compare the wider requirements in our UAE tourist visa guide, or start directly from the Dubai visa application page.

Prepare clear, uncropped colour files. In our experience, incomplete passport edges and unreadable Spanish residence cards are common causes of avoidable document-review delays.

- Valid Spanish residence permit, residence certificate or relevant status document
- Passport cover page when requested
- Flight, accommodation or host information when requested

Dubai Visa for Spain TIE Holders and Residence Permit Holders
The TIEâTarjeta de Identidad de Extranjeroâdocuments a foreign nationalâs legal administrative status in Spain. Spainâs Ministry of the Interior explains that the TIE proves legal residence but the holderâs passport remains the identity document. For UAE travel, the TIE supports residence evidence; it does not replace passport-based eligibility.
Does a TIE Card Change UAE Visa Eligibility?
It can affect the available route for selected nationalities holding qualifying residence permits, but it does not automatically grant visa-free entry. Other non-EU passport holders will usually need advance UAE approval.
Documents for a UAE Visa With a Spanish Residence Permit
- Passport valid for the intended journey
- Current TIE or Spanish residence card, front and back
- Recent photograph and contact information
- Travel details or additional evidence if requested

Can Spain Residents Extend a UAE Tourist Visa?
Extension eligibility depends on the visa category and the issuing authorityâs rules at the time. Some tourist entry permits may be extendable, while the special 60-day residence-permit visa announced by ICP is single entry and non-extendable. The related 14-day category may be extended once.
What to carry at UAE immigration
- The passport used in the application
- A printed or offline copy of the UAE eVisa, if pre-arranged
- Valid Spanish residence permit, when relevant to eligibility
- Return/onward ticket and accommodation details
An approved UAE tourist visa can generally be used to enter through Dubai or another eligible UAE airport and to travel between Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and the other Emirates. There is no separate âDubai-onlyâ tourist visa for domestic travel inside the UAE.
For extension, overstay and in-country status guidance, see the current UAE visa extension and overstay guide. Check eligibility before the visa expires; do not assume every visa category can be extended.
