Use your travel passport to check eligibility

Living in Melbourne, Sydney or another Australian city does not change the nationality on your passport. For a UAE visa for Sri Lankan passport holders in Australia, select Sri Lanka as nationality and give Australia as your residence country wherever requested.

Sri Lanka is not included in the standard UAE visa-on-arrival list or ICP's June 2026 list of nationalities eligible through residence in countries such as Australia. A Sri Lankan passport and Australian PR therefore do not qualify together for that residence-based exception.

If you now travel on an Australian passport, your application needs to be assessed using that passport. Being born in Sri Lanka and travelling on a Sri Lankan passport are different things.

Prepare matching passport, residence and trip records

Start with the documents below. The application team will confirm any extra identity or supporting evidence needed for your file.

• Sri Lankan passport: a readable colour copy of the information page, with at least six months' validity for the tourist visa route.
• Front-cover image: keep this separate from the passport information-page copy for the online upload.
• Photograph: a recent colour passport-style photo on a plain background.
• Australian immigration record: current visa details, your grant notice and any requested identity or residence evidence.
• Flight details: travel into and out of the UAE, including onward travel to Sri Lanka if that is your plan.
• Stay details: your Dubai hotel booking or the address and contact details of your host.
• Medical insurance: cover valid in the UAE during your visit.

Full names and shortened names

Copy the name fields from your passport. If an Australian record uses initials or a shortened version, tell the application team about the difference before submission. Don't shorten a passport name simply to make it match another document. Ask for help if the form cannot accommodate the name as printed.

Use Home Affairs' VEVO service to check current visa conditions and share proof of your status. Keep the details that apply now, particularly if your visa or passport has changed since the original grant.

Dubai visa for Sri Lankan students in Australia

Plan the visit around your course dates and Australian visa conditions. Keep your current student visa record ready; an enrolment letter alone does not show your immigration status. If a supporting study document is requested, send it with the visa evidence.

Temporary workers and other visa holders

Check the conditions attached to your current Australian visa before settling the return date. If you're moving between visa categories, tell the application team which status you hold now, rather than relying only on a pending application.

Dubai visa for Sri Lankan Australian PR holders

Permanent residents travelling on Sri Lankan passports still need the appropriate UAE entry visa. Check the overseas travel and return conditions on your Australian visa separately; an approved Dubai visit does not establish your permission to re-enter Australia.

If you're on a bridging visa, confirm overseas travel conditions with Home Affairs before leaving Australia. Don't assume that permission to remain in Australia also allows departure and return.

Choose the stay and number of entries

A Dubai tourist visa for Sri Lankans in Australia should fit the trip you intend to take. Compare these options, then confirm the category available for your passport before payment.

GDRFA lists 30- and 60-day single-entry tourist visas. The 14-day service needs a separate availability check; Sri Lankan passports do not qualify for ICP's specific residence-based 14-day category merely through Australian residence.

Travelling with family or continuing to Colombo?

Check each family member's passport before starting a shared booking. A Sri Lankan-passport parent and an Australian-passport child may have different UAE entry requirements. Prepare each traveller's details separately and provide relationship documents if requested.

For example, a trip could involve a Dubai holiday before flying to Colombo, then returning directly to Australia. The UAE departure flight would be to Sri Lanka, so the dates and onward ticket should reflect that plan. If you intend to enter Dubai again on the return leg, check permission for the second entry as well.

A flight connection is different from a Dubai visit

Remaining in the international transit area generally does not require a UAE entry visa. Confirm that the airline can handle your connection and baggage without passing immigration. Leaving the airport for a hotel, collecting bags through passport control or transferring between DXB and DWC involves UAE entry requirements.

2. Choose the available visa and travel dates. Check the stay period and single- or multiple-entry selection against the itinerary.
3. Complete the traveller information. Review full names, passport numbers and dates before uploading the requested files. Add each accompanying traveller separately.
4. Check the total and submit. Review the selected service, any extras and the payment terms. Keep your application reference and watch for document requests.

If a document is unclear or a name field looks wrong, resolve it before the file is submitted. Let the team know if your passport or travel dates change while the application is being handled.

Use the current UAE visa service prices as a starting point. Confirm the final amount for your selected category, what it includes and the currency being charged. An assisted-service quote is different from a government-only visa fee.

Ask for the expected submission and processing timeline for your complete file. Document corrections and further immigration checks can add time, so avoid treating an estimated decision date as confirmed approval.

Once the visa is issued, compare it with your passport and itinerary. Check the deadline for entering the UAE, the permitted stay and the number of entries. Keep a copy available for airline and arrival checks.
