What GCC residents should know before applying: GCC citizens can normally enter the UAE without an advance tourist visa. A GCC resident is an expatriate—not a citizen—living legally in a GCC country. Expatriate residents may need the specific GCC-resident entry permit, a regular pre-arranged UAE tourist visa, or no advance visa when their passport qualifies for visa-free entry or visa on arrival.

What Is a UAE Visa for GCC Residents?

A UAE visa for GCC residents is an entry-permission route used by eligible foreign nationals who legally live in another Gulf Cooperation Council country. Examples include a Pakistani passport holder with a Saudi Iqama, an Indian passport holder with a Qatar Residence Permit, or a Filipino passport holder with a Kuwait Civil ID.

🛂

GCC citizen

A passport holder of Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman or Bahrain. GCC citizens normally enter the UAE without applying for a tourist visa.

🪪

GCC resident

An expatriate holding a valid residence permit issued by a GCC country. Residency does not automatically create visa-free UAE entry.

📘

Passport nationality

Your passport remains a major factor. Two residents holding the same GCC residence card can have different UAE visa requirements.

GCC Countries Covered by This UAE Visa Guide

The GCC has six member states. This entry-visa guide is primarily for expatriates travelling to the UAE from the other five GCC countries.

🇸🇦 Saudi ArabiaIqama and Saudi residence-permit holders
🇶🇦 QatarQatar Residence Permit and QID holders
🇰🇼 KuwaitKuwait Civil ID and residence holders
🇴🇲 OmanOman residence-card holders
🇧🇭 BahrainBahrain CPR and residence-permit holders
🇦🇪 United Arab EmiratesThe destination and sixth GCC member; UAE residents returning to the UAE follow residence/re-entry rules, not this visitor route.

Who Is Eligible for a UAE Visa?

An expatriate GCC resident may apply when legally resident in Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman or Bahrain and able to provide a valid passport and current GCC residence evidence. There are two different advance-visa routes, and they should not be confused:

Traveller profileLikely routeImportant checks
GCC passport holderNormally visa-free entryCarry a valid GCC passport or accepted national ID and comply with immigration checks.
Expatriate GCC resident meeting the special entry-permit conditionsGCC-resident UAE entry permitPassport validity, GCC residence permit, profession and any entry restrictions are evaluated.
Expatriate GCC resident who does not meet that categoryRegular UAE tourist or transit visaEligibility is assessed through passport nationality, travel purpose, documents and immigration history.
Passport already eligible for UAE visa-free entry or visa on arrivalAdvance application may not be requiredCheck the current rule for the exact passport—not the GCC residence card alone.
Official GCC-resident permit: GDRFA Dubai describes this as an entry visa for a foreigner residing in a GCC country, allowing a visitor stay not exceeding 30 days and extendable once. Every application remains subject to evaluation by the authority.

GCC Residence Permit, Passport and Profession Requirements

Requirements depend on the application category. For the specific GDRFA Dubai GCC-resident entry-permit service, the official service page currently states:

  • A passport or travel document valid for at least six months.
  • A copy of the GCC residence permit or an electronic extract showing the profession and residence validity.
  • A GCC residence permit of no less than one year.
  • A profession included in the authority’s approved professions, subject to evaluation.
  • No restriction preventing the traveller from entering the UAE.
Do not rely on an old “three-month residency” rule. The specific GDRFA GCC-resident service currently states a residence permit of no less than one year. A regular UAE tourist visa may use different assessment criteria, so the correct route must be checked before submission.

Does every UAE tourist visa require an approved profession?

No. The profession condition above relates specifically to the GCC-resident entry-permit category. A traveller who does not qualify under that route may still be assessed for a regular tourist visa based on nationality and the documents requested at the time. This does not guarantee issuance.

UAE Visa Types for GCC Residents

48- or 96-Hour Transit Visa

For eligible travellers making a short UAE stopover with onward travel arrangements.

📅

14-Day Single Entry

A short tourist option for brief holidays, events or family visits.

30-Day Single Entry

The most popular option for holidays and short family visits.

🏝️

60-Day Single Entry

For longer tourism or family stays, subject to eligibility.

🔁

30-Day Multiple Entry

For travellers who need more than one UAE entry during the issued validity.

🌐

60-Day Multiple Entry

A longer multiple-entry option for eligible frequent travellers.

Tourist and transit visas are not work visas. Employment, job seeking that involves working, or paid activity requires the appropriate UAE work authorisation.

The official GDRFA GCC-resident service lists an expected completion time of 48 hours. Private-service targets and government processing times are estimates, not issuance guarantees. UAE weekends, public holidays, peak travel periods, extra verification and immigration review can cause delays.

UAE Visa Fees for GCC Residents

The following are DubaiVisa.com’s standard assisted-service prices. They are not government-only fees and may vary if additional processing, nationality-specific documentation or urgent handling is required.

Why can a private assisted-service price be higher? The published price may include application handling, document review, submission support, customer updates and electronic delivery when issued. The specific GDRFA GCC-resident self-service page separately lists an authority fee of AED250 plus 5% VAT for eligible applicants using that category. Government fees, private assistance and regular tourist-visa pricing are not the same product.

Payment-provider conversion rates and bank charges may affect the final amount in SAR, QAR, KWD, OMR or BHD. Confirm the checkout total before payment.

UAE Visa for GCC Residents by Country

Use the guide matching the country that issued your current GCC residence permit:

UAE Visa for GCC Residents by Nationality

UAE authorities do not present the GCC-resident entry permit as a permanent, universal nationality list. Eligibility is profile-based and can change. Passport nationality, current GCC residence, profession, travel history and immigration restrictions may all affect the route and decision.

Service restriction: DubaiVisa.com currently does not accept tourist or transit visa applications from Bangladeshi or Afghan passport holders. This is a private-service restriction and is not a complete statement of UAE government policy.

If your passport already qualifies for UAE visa-free entry or visa on arrival, you may not need a pre-arranged visa. Confirm the current rule for your exact passport before paying for any service.

UAE Visa on Arrival for GCC Residents

GCC residence alone does not guarantee a UAE visa on arrival. Eligibility normally comes from the traveller’s passport nationality or another specifically recognised status. If the passport is not eligible, the traveller should obtain the correct GCC-resident entry permit or pre-arranged UAE tourist visa before departure.

Who may qualify

Travellers whose passports appear on the UAE’s current visa-free or visa-on-arrival list and who meet every applicable condition.

🪪

What GCC residence does

A valid GCC permit can support the resident entry-permit route, but it does not automatically convert every passport into visa-on-arrival status.

⚠️

Exceptions and changes

Validity periods, document conditions and eligible categories can change. Airlines and immigration may request evidence before boarding or entry.

Before flying or driving: Check the current rule for the exact passport and residence profile. Compare the routes in our UAE visa on arrival guide.

Can a UAE Visa for GCC Residents Be Extended?

The specific GDRFA GCC-resident entry permit allows a visitor stay of up to 30 days and states that it may be extended once. Regular UAE tourist-visa extensions depend on the issued category and the immigration rules in force at the time.

  • Apply before the permitted stay expires.
  • Provide the issued visa, passport and any supporting documents requested for the extension review.
  • Do not assume every tourist or transit visa is extendable.
  • Additional government and service charges may apply.
  • Overstaying can lead to daily fines and future immigration complications.

Extension processing time depends on the issued category and current immigration checks. Check the exact dates printed on the issued eVisa and contact support early if your travel plan changes. See the UAE visa extension guide.

Common UAE Visa Rejection Reasons

  • Blurred, cropped, altered or unreadable passport and residence-card copies.
  • Passport validity below the required period.
  • Expired, cancelled or insufficient GCC residence validity.
  • Profession not accepted for the specific GCC-resident permit category.
  • Names, dates or passport numbers that do not match across documents.
  • Previous UAE overstay, unpaid fines or unresolved immigration records.
  • Selecting a GCC-resident entry permit when the profile requires a regular tourist visa—or the reverse.
  • Duplicate applications submitted through different channels at the same time.
  • Additional nationality-specific documents not supplied when requested.
No visa is guaranteed. DubaiVisa.com can review documents, identify visible mistakes and assist with the application process, but the final visa and entry decisions belong exclusively to the relevant UAE immigration authorities.

Frequently Asked Questions About UAE Visas for GCC Residents

Do GCC residents need a visa to enter the UAE?

Many expatriate GCC residents need advance UAE entry permission, but the answer depends on passport nationality and the application route. GCC residence by itself does not create automatic visa-free entry.

Are GCC citizens and GCC residents treated the same?

No. GCC citizens hold passports from Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman or Bahrain and normally enter the UAE without a tourist visa. GCC residents are expatriates holding a residence permit from one of those countries.

Can Saudi Iqama holders apply online?

Yes, eligible expatriates holding a valid Saudi Iqama can apply online. Passport nationality, Iqama validity, profession and the selected visa category are reviewed.

Can Qatar, Kuwait, Oman and Bahrain residents apply?

Eligible expatriate residents can apply online using their passport and valid QID, Kuwait Civil ID, Oman residence card or Bahrain CPR/residence evidence. Final eligibility depends on the full profile.

Can GCC residents apply for a UAE visa online?

Yes. Eligible residents can complete the application online, upload their passport and GCC residence evidence, pay securely and receive the issued eVisa electronically. The available route depends on the applicant’s passport and residence profile.

How long can GCC residents stay in the UAE?

The permitted stay depends on the visa issued. The specific GCC-resident entry permit allows a stay of up to 30 days, while regular tourist visas can permit different stay periods such as 14, 30 or 60 days.

Is a UAE visa valid only for Dubai?

A UAE tourist visa is generally valid for travel within all seven Emirates, subject to the entry point and conditions printed on the issued visa. It is not limited to Dubai attractions.

How much GCC residence validity is required?

For the specific GDRFA GCC-resident entry-permit category, the official service page states that the traveller should have a residence permit of no less than one year. Other tourist-visa categories can have different assessment requirements.

Does my profession matter?

It matters for the specific GCC-resident entry-permit service because GDRFA states that the profession must be on an approved list and remains subject to authority evaluation. A regular tourist-visa route may be assessed differently.

Which nationalities can apply?

There is no single permanent nationality list that guarantees eligibility. DubaiVisa.com reviews many expatriate passport nationalities, but nationality, GCC status, profession, documents and immigration history are assessed together. DubaiVisa.com currently does not serve Bangladeshi or Afghan passports.

How long does processing take?

DubaiVisa.com’s standard service target is 24–72 working hours after complete documents are accepted. Express options may be available for eligible profiles. The official GDRFA GCC-resident service lists an expected completion time of 48 hours.

Can I enter the UAE by road?

A valid visa or entry permission is still required when applicable. Before driving, confirm that the issued visa is accepted at the intended land border and carry the passport, GCC residence proof, vehicle papers and insurance required for the journey.

Can family members apply together?

Families can submit applications together, but every traveller—including each child—needs an individual passport and the required UAE entry permission. Relationship or parental documents may be requested.

Can I extend a GCC resident entry permit?

The specific GDRFA permit allows a stay not exceeding 30 days and is described as extendable once. Extension eligibility, timing and charges must be confirmed before the current permission expires.

Can I work in the UAE using this visa?

No. Tourist, visit and transit visas do not authorise employment. Working requires the correct UAE work permit and residence process.

Is visa approval guaranteed?

No. Document review and application assistance cannot guarantee visa issuance or entry. The final decision is made by the relevant UAE immigration authority.
