Dubai Visa for Sri Lankan UK eVisa and BRP Holders

Sri Lankans in the UK still need a UAE visa before travelling on a Sri Lankan passport. A UK eVisa proves your UK immigration status; it does not provide visa-free entry to Dubai.

Do Sri Lankan UK residents need a Dubai visa?

Yes. The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs currently marks Sri Lanka as “Visa Required.” The passport used for travel determines the UAE entry route, even when a Sri Lankan traveller has a valid UK eVisa or previously held a physical BRP. The official GDRFA tourist visa service lists the current passport, ticket and UAE medical-insurance conditions.

Questions from Sri Lankan UK residents

Does a UK eVisa allow a Sri Lankan citizen to enter Dubai?

No. The UK eVisa proves immigration status in the UK. A separate UAE visa is needed for travel on a Sri Lankan passport.

Can a former BRP holder apply online?

Yes, if the person's UK immigration permission is still valid and can be shown through UKVI or another accepted record. The UAE application is assessed separately.

Do I need a UKVI travel share code?

A carrier or border officer may ask for more proof of your UK status when you return. GOV.UK says a travel share code is valid for 90 days. The visa processing team will tell you which UK residence evidence is needed for the application.

Is UK permanent residence enough for UAE entry?

No. UK residence status does not override the visa requirement attached to a Sri Lankan passport.

How long must the passport remain valid?

GDRFA states that the passport or travel document should have at least six months' validity for its single-entry tourist visa service.

Where can I check my UK eVisa before travelling?

Use the official UK eVisa travel guidance to check your account and linked passport before departure.
