What is a Saudi Iqama?
An Iqama is evidence that a foreign national has legal residence status in Saudi Arabia. For a UAE application, the residence copy or electronic extract should clearly show the holderâs identity, profession and validity.
A work Iqama, family/dependant residence and a temporary Saudi visit or Umrah visa are not the same status. Temporary visitors are not GCC residents and normally use a standard UAE tourist or transit route when advance approval is required.

Do Iqama holders need a visa?
Saudi residence does not automatically mean visa-free UAE entry
Saudi passport holders are GCC citizens and can enter the UAE without arranging a tourist visa in advance. Most expatriates living in Saudi Arabia must obtain an appropriate UAE entry permit or tourist visa before travelling.

A licensed UAE tourism establishment can sponsor a single-entry tourist visa for a 30- or 60-day stay.
This route may suit applicants who do not qualify under the GCC-resident permit conditions.

Can GCC residents living in Saudi Arabia apply?
Yes. A foreign national legally residing in Saudi Arabia may apply through an eligible GCC-resident route when the passport, residence permit, profession and immigration conditions are satisfied. Family or dependant residents should provide their own current residence evidence.

Do not rely on Iqama alone
Can Saudi Iqama holders get a UAE visa on arrival?
No automatic visa on arrival is granted merely because a traveller holds a Saudi Iqama. Saudi citizens are GCC nationals and normally enter under GCC-citizen rules. Expatriate residents must check the rule attached to their passport and supporting residence.
GDRFAâs current selected-nationality visa-on-arrival service has its own passport and residence criteria. It lists eligible residence permits from the United States, United Kingdom, European Union, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, South Korea or Singapore; a Saudi Iqama is not one of those residence permits.
If your passport does not independently qualify, arrange the correct GCC-resident entry permit or tourist visa before boarding or reaching the land border. Never travel based only on an informal eligibility claim.

Can a Saudi Iqama holder extend a UAE visa?
GDRFA states that its 30-day GCC-resident entry permit may be extended once. Extension availability for tourist visas depends on the visa issued and the immigration rules in force at the time. Apply before expiry and do not overstay while waiting for advice.

The last date to enter the UAE is not necessarily the same as the permitted length of stay after entry. Read both dates on the approved visa PDF and request extension guidance before the permitted stay ends.

Does a Saudi Iqama allow visa-free entry to Dubai?
No. A Saudi Iqama is a residence permit, not a Saudi passport. Most expatriate residents must obtain an eligible UAE entry permit or tourist visa before travel.
How long can a GCC resident stay in Dubai?
Dubaiâs GCC-resident entry permit allows an eligible visitor to stay for up to 30 days and may be extended once. A standard tourist visa can provide a 30- or 60-day stay, depending on the visa issued.
Does my Iqama profession matter?
It may. GDRFA states that the profession must be on the approved list for the GCC-resident entry permit and remains subject to the authorityâs evaluation. A different tourist visa route may be considered when appropriate.
Can I enter the UAE by road from Saudi Arabia?
Yes, but you must have the correct UAE entry permission before reaching the border. Carry your passport, Saudi Iqama and approved visa.
Is approval guaranteed?

Can I apply for a Dubai visa while visiting Saudi Arabia for Umrah?
You may request a standard UAE tourist or transit visa while legally visiting Saudi Arabia, subject to your passport nationality and application eligibility. An Umrah or Saudi visit visa does not qualify as GCC residence, so it cannot be used in place of an Iqama for the GCC-resident entry permit.
Can other Saudi residence visa holders apply?
Yes, holders of valid family, dependant or other Saudi residence status can submit their residence evidence for review. The issuing authority decides whether the GCC-resident route applies. If it does not, an eligible standard UAE tourist visa may be considered.
Can I return to Saudi Arabia after visiting Dubai?
Only if your Saudi visa or residence status remains valid and allows another entry. Check the exact number of entries and validity dates before leaving Saudi Arabia. A UAE visa does not provide permission to re-enter Saudi Arabia.
