Does a US, UK, EU or Canadian Residence Permit Give Ghanaian Citizens Visa on Arrival?
Do not assume so. The UAE residence-permit-based visa-on-arrival expansion announced on 25 June 2026 applies to six nationalities: Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand, the Philippines, Kenya and South Africa. Ghana is not included in that list.
A Ghanaian citizen living in the US, UK, EU, Canada, Australia or another country should still check the UAE rule for the Ghanaian passport before departure.
When a pre-arranged UAE visa is required, submit the Ghanaian passport and add foreign residence evidence if it is relevant or requested.
UAE Visa for Ghanaian GCC Residents
A Ghanaian citizen legally resident in Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman or Bahrain may have the separate GCC-resident UAE eVisa route to check before travel.
Official UAE guidance currently requires GCC residence to be valid for at least one year from arrival.
