Use the physical passport you will present at check-in. Compare its details with the issued visa and make sure your planned arrival falls within the visa’s entry-validity window.
Build one accessible travel folder
Place the visa PDF, return or onward ticket, hotel or host details, insurance evidence and important family or medicine documents in one offline folder.
Reconfirm the operating journey
Check the operating airline, departure airport, terminal, baggage allowance and latest flight status. A codeshare ticket may show one airline while another operates the aircraft.
Keep the evidence in hand luggage
Do not place your passport, medicine documents or only printed visa copy in checked baggage. They should remain reachable throughout check-in, boarding and arrival.
1. Are You Carrying the Same Passport Used for the Visa?
Place the issued visa next to the passport you plan to carry. Check the full name, passport number, nationality, date of birth and passport expiry date. A visa linked to an old passport or containing a typing error should be reviewed before departure.

Keep the application or file reference supplied by the issuing channel. For a Dubai-issued application, use the official GDRFA Dubai application tracker. For an ICP or federal file, use the relevant ICP file-validity service.
Use the authority that handled the application. Entering a valid reference into the wrong portal can produce no result and cause unnecessary panic. If a third-party provider handled the application, ask which authority issued the visa and retain the original reference details.
4. Did You Check the Operating Airline and Terminal?
A confirmed ticket is not the same as a confirmed operating plan. Check the latest flight status directly with the operating airline. Make sure you know the correct departure airport and terminal, especially when a city has more than one airport or the itinerary includes a codeshare flight.
Review baggage limits, check-in closing time and any transit-document requirement for countries used during the connection. UAE permission does not replace a transit visa that another country may require. If separate tickets are involved, also confirm whether baggage must be collected and checked in again.

A forwarded message or a cropped screenshot can hide the traveller name, booking reference or validity information an airline needs to see. Save the complete PDFs instead.

6. Do Your Return Ticket and Accommodation Still Match the Trip?
Keep a genuine confirmed return or onward ticket that supports the intended length of stay. If the booking changed after the visa application, make sure the new dates still fit the issued visa and that the complete updated confirmation is available.
For accommodation, retain the full hotel confirmation or the host’s name, UAE address and reachable phone number. If a hotel was changed or cancelled, replace the old file in your travel folder. Contradictory versions create confusion when the trip is being checked.
7. Has Every Child Been Checked as a Separate Traveller?
Open each child’s passport, visa or entry document and ticket individually. Check names, dates of birth, passport numbers and entry validity. A parent’s valid document does not correct a problem on a child’s document.
When a child has a different surname, travels with one parent or is accompanied by another adult, carry relationship or consent evidence when applicable. Departure-country and airline rules can differ, so confirm the exact requirement with the operating airline before reaching the airport.
8. Have You Checked Medicines Before Packing?
Keep medicines in their original packaging and carry the prescription or medical report relevant to personal use. A medicine available without difficulty in one country may be controlled in the UAE.

9. Are You Carrying Cash or Valuables Above the Declaration Limit?
Travellers aged 18 or above carrying more than AED 60,000—or the equivalent in covered currencies and valuables—must follow the applicable declaration process. Amounts carried by travellers under 18 are added to the accompanying adult’s total for this purpose.
