Best Time to Visit Dubai 2026: Month-by-Month Weather & Visa Planning Guide

Planning a Dubai trip and wondering when to go? The short answer: November through March offers the most comfortable weather for sightseeing, beaches, and outdoor activities. But the full picture is more useful than that one-line answer — this guide breaks down what to expect month by month, when prices and crowds peak, and how to time your visa application around your travel dates.

Disclaimer: Weather figures below are long-term climate averages, not a forecast for any specific trip. Conditions vary year to year, and extreme weather events (such as the exceptional April 2024 rainfall) can occur outside normal patterns. For current conditions before travel, check the UAE National Center of Meteorology. Quick Answer: When Should You Visit Dubai?

Best overall: November to March — cooler, comfortable, peak tourist season
Best value: May, June, September — hot but manageable, with lower hotel prices
Avoid if heat-sensitive: July and August — peak heat and humidity

Winter (November–March): The Peak Season

This is Dubai’s most popular travel window, and for good reason. Daytime temperatures sit in the comfortable mid-20s to high-20s°C, evenings are pleasant, and it’s the only stretch of the year when most of Dubai’s rainfall happens — though even then, it’s brief and infrequent.

This window is ideal for outdoor sightseeing, desert safaris, beach days, and walking around Downtown Dubai or the souks without the heat working against you. It’s also when Dubai hosts major events — New Year celebrations, the Dubai Shopping Festival, and various exhibitions — so book hotels and flights early if you’re traveling in December or around major holidays.

Visa planning tip: Because this is peak season, visa and flight demand both increase. Apply at least a week earlier than usual if you’re traveling during New Year, Eid, or school holiday periods — see our visa pricing and timing guide for standard processing windows.

Spring (March–April): Still Good, Heating Up Fast

March is one of the best-kept-secret months — still comfortable, with fewer crowds than peak winter. April marks a noticeable shift: daytime highs climb into the mid-30s°C, and by the end of the month, summer is effectively underway.

If you want winter-like comfort with lower prices than December/January, March is usually your best bet.

Summer (May–September): Hot, But Not Off-Limits

Summer in Dubai is genuinely hot — daytime temperatures regularly exceed 38–41°C from June through September, with high humidity near the coast making it feel even hotter. July and August are the most intense, often called the most challenging months for outdoor activity.

That said, summer isn’t a reason to rule out Dubai entirely:

  • Hotel prices drop significantly — some of the best deals of the year
  • Indoor attractions (Dubai Mall, Dubai Aquarium, IMG Worlds of Adventure, ski facilities) are fully air-conditioned and unaffected by outside heat
  • Flights and visas are easier to book quickly, since this isn’t peak season
  • Early morning or evening outdoor activities are still workable if you plan around the hottest midday hours

Visa planning tip: Since this isn’t peak season, processing during these months tends to be more predictable. It’s still worth applying a few days ahead — see our overstay and timing guide for what happens if your visa window runs shorter than your trip.

Autumn (October–November): The Transition Back to Comfortable

October is still warm, but noticeably more bearable than peak summer. By November, Dubai has settled back into the comfortable range that defines its winter season. This is a good window if you want winter-like weather but want to travel just ahead of the most crowded months.

Rain, Humidity, and What to Actually Expect

Dubai’s annual rainfall is low — typically under 100mm for the entire year, concentrated mostly between November and March. Most rain falls as brief, intense showers rather than prolonged wet weather, and some streets can flood briefly since drainage infrastructure is built for a desert climate, not heavy rain.

One important exception worth knowing: in April 2024, Dubai experienced an unprecedented, once-in-decades rainfall event that caused significant flooding and flight disruptions. This was a genuine outlier, not representative of typical Dubai weather, but it’s a reminder that even a low-rainfall desert city can occasionally see extreme weather. Check current conditions before any trip regardless of season.

Humidity is the other factor that affects comfort more than temperature alone. It’s typically highest in winter months near the coast (which can make even mild winter days feel slightly sticky) and lowest in spring, particularly April and May.

Choosing Your Visa Type Around Your Travel Dates

Once you’ve picked your travel window, the next step is matching it to the right visa duration:

  • Short winter trip (under 2 weeks): A 14-day visa covers most peak-season holidays comfortably
  • Longer winter stay or combining Dubai with other Emirates: A 30-day visa gives more flexibility
  • Extended stay, including summer “cooler hours” trips with lots of indoor time: A 60-day visa avoids the need to extend mid-trip
  • Combining Dubai with a nearby country during the same trip: See our multiple-entry visa guide

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best month to visit Dubai?

January and February typically offer the most comfortable combination of temperature and lower humidity, making them the most popular months for visitors. December and March are close runners-up with slightly fewer crowds.

Is Dubai too hot to visit in summer?

Summer (June to September) is genuinely hot, with daytime temperatures often exceeding 38°C. It’s not off-limits — many visitors enjoy lower prices and indoor attractions — but outdoor sightseeing is more comfortable in winter months.

Does it rain a lot in Dubai?

No. Dubai’s annual rainfall is low, typically under 100mm for the whole year, concentrated mostly between November and March as brief, infrequent showers. Extreme rainfall events are rare but can occasionally occur.

When is the cheapest time to visit Dubai?

Summer months (June through September) generally have the lowest hotel prices, since this falls outside peak tourist season due to the heat.

Should I apply for my visa earlier during peak season?

Yes. During November to March, and especially around New Year and major holidays, visa and flight demand both increase. Applying at least a week ahead of your travel date is recommended during these periods.

Is DubaiVisa.com licensed to help with visa applications for any travel season?

Yes. DubaiVisa.com operates under DTCM License No. 589515 and has assisted tourist visa applicants for over 16 years, regardless of when they’re traveling.
