Quick answer: Qatari passport holders are GCC citizens and normally do not need a pre-arranged UAE tourist visa. Expatriates living in Qatar must check the UAE rule for their passport. A Qatar ID supports a GCC-resident application, but a QID alone does not grant visa-free entry or visa on arrival.
GCC-wide eligibility: If you live elsewhere in the Gulf, use our UAE visa for GCC residents pillar guide. This page is specifically for people applying from Qatar.

DubaiVisa.com is operated by Al Hadaf Tourism LLC under DTCM Licence No. 589515. We are a private visa-assistance platform and are not affiliated with the UAE Government, ICP or GDRFA. We assist with tourist, visit and transit visas—not UAE work visas. Processing and issuance remain subject to UAE immigration authorities.

Who Can Apply for a UAE Visa from Qatar?

A Qatar-based application is suitable for non-Qatari residents who hold a valid Qatar residence permit and Qatar ID, as well as temporary visitors who must use the ordinary tourist visa route for their passport. The first review should identify which of these profiles describes you.

Qatar Residents

Employees, investors, dependants and students holding a valid Qatar ID can request a UAE visa assessment using their passport and Qatar residence evidence.

Qatar Visitors

A Qatar tourist, family-visit or short business visa is not a Qatar residence permit. Visitors should use the standard UAE tourist or transit route required by their passport.

Qatari Citizens

Qatari passport holders are GCC citizens and normally enter the UAE without obtaining a tourist visa in advance, subject to current entry checks.

UAE Visa Requirements for Qatar Residents and QID Holders

Your Qatar ID is important, but it is not the only document. A clear QID helps confirm lawful residence in Qatar. Depending on the entry route, UAE immigration may also need an electronic residence extract that shows your profession and residence validity.

  • Clear colour passport bio-page scan
  • Passport normally valid for at least six months
  • Recent colour photograph on a white background
  • Clear Qatar ID/QID copy, front and back where applicable
  • Qatar residence permit or electronic extract when requested
  • Passport cover marked “PASSPORT” when required
  • Travel date and UAE accommodation/contact details
  • Return ticket or hotel booking if requested for the applicant’s route
Qatar ID Check ✓ Name matches the passport ✓ QID image is clear and uncropped ✓ Residence is valid for the intended route ✓ Profession/expiry can be verified if requested
Do not upload only the Qatar ID. The UAE application is linked to the passport. A valid-looking QID cannot correct an expired passport, mismatched name, unsuitable residence status or an immigration restriction.

The Qatar Ministry of Interior provides a Residence Permit Inquiries service for checking RP applications and renewals. For the dedicated GCC-resident route, GDRFA currently publishes a six-month passport requirement, a residence permit with at least one year’s validity and profession evaluation. Other pre-arranged tourist visa routes may have different conditions.

UAE Visa Processing Time from Qatar

  • Standard processing: commonly targeted within 24–72 working hours after complete documents are accepted
  • Express processing: may be available for eligible applications when the passport and Qatar ID documents are complete
  • Additional review: may take longer when residence validity, profession, previous UAE history or nationality-specific documents must be checked

Apply at least five to seven working days before travel and avoid non-refundable bookings until the visa has been issued. Read the complete Dubai visa processing-time guide.

UAE Visa for Expatriates Living in Qatar

“Qatar resident” is not a nationality. An expatriate’s UAE entry position is determined by the passport plus the Qatar residence profile. The Qatar ID is supporting proof, and the type of QID sponsorship can affect which documents are requested.

Employees and Professionals

Submit a valid passport and QID. A Qatar residence extract showing profession and expiry may be requested for the GCC-resident route.

Family and Dependants

Spouses and children can apply with their own passports and QIDs. Sponsor or relationship documents may be requested for family files.

Students

Students with a valid QID can apply when their passport requires advance permission. Enrolment or sponsor evidence may be requested.

Temporary stay in Qatar: if you are in Qatar on a visit visa, transit stay or short business visa, do not describe yourself as a Qatar resident. Apply using the correct UAE tourist or transit route for your passport.

UAE Visa from Qatar by Passport Nationality

Select the traveller’s passport nationality. These links show available tourist and transit options; your Qatar ID is uploaded later as supporting residence evidence where applicable.

Another passport? Start from the Dubai visa online page and select the passport country. DubaiVisa.com does not currently provide visa assistance for Bangladeshi or Afghan passports.

Can Qatar ID Holders Get a UAE Visa on Arrival?

A Qatar ID by itself does not provide visa on arrival. There are three different situations:

  1. Qatari citizens: normally enter as GCC citizens without applying for a tourist visa in advance.
  2. Expatriates whose passports qualify: may enter visa-free or obtain visa on arrival when every current nationality condition is met.
  3. Other Qatar residents: should obtain the appropriate pre-arranged UAE visa before boarding.

Some travellers may qualify through another recognised residence permit or visa category, but the Qatar ID should not be treated as automatic proof of eligibility. Check current conditions before travel through the GDRFA visa-on-arrival service page or the operating airline.

UAE Visa from Qatar FAQs

Do Qatari citizens need a visa for Dubai?

Qatari passport holders are GCC citizens and normally do not need to obtain a UAE tourist visa before travel. They must still carry a valid accepted travel document and meet current entry requirements.

Do expatriates in Qatar need a UAE visa?

It depends on the passport nationality. Many expatriates must obtain a pre-arranged UAE visa, while some passport holders qualify for visa-free entry or visa on arrival.

Is a Qatar ID enough to enter Dubai?

No. A Qatar ID proves local identity and residence status but does not replace the passport or automatically provide UAE entry permission.

How valid should my Qatar ID be?

Your QID and Qatar residence should be valid when applying and travelling. For the dedicated GDRFA GCC-resident service, the published condition currently states a residence permit with at least one year’s validity and may require a residence extract showing profession and expiry. Other tourist visa routes can have different conditions.

Can I apply with a digital Qatar residence record?

An electronic extract may be accepted or specifically requested when it clearly shows the profession and residence validity. The exact requirement depends on the application route.

How much does a UAE visa from Qatar cost?

DubaiVisa.com package prices shown here range from USD 100/QAR 364 for a 48-hour transit visa to USD 359/QAR 1,307 for a 60-day multiple-entry visa. Confirm the final checkout price before payment.

How long does processing take?

Standard processing is commonly targeted within 24–72 working hours after complete documents are accepted. Additional checks, weekends and public holidays can extend the timeline.

Can Qatar students and dependants apply?

Yes, when their passports require advance permission. Each traveller needs an individual passport and application; QID, sponsor, guardian or enrolment evidence may be requested.

Can a Qatar visit-visa holder use the GCC-resident route?

Not normally. A temporary Qatar visit, tourist or short business visa is not a residence permit. Use the standard UAE route required for the passport.

Can I apply from Doha, Lusail or Al Wakrah?

Yes. The application is online, so residents across Qatar follow the same process. Your city does not change the passport or QID requirements.

Can I use the UAE visa to enter Abu Dhabi?

Yes. An issued UAE tourist visa is valid for travel across all seven emirates, subject to the dates and conditions printed on the visa.

Is UAE visa issuance guaranteed for Qatar residents?

No. A valid Qatar ID does not guarantee issuance. UAE immigration authorities make the final decision after reviewing the complete application.
