Which passport will you use for Dubai?

For a UAE visa for Iraqi passport holders in Australia, nationality and residence are separate details. Enter Iraq as your passport nationality and Australia as your current country of residence when the form asks for them.

This guidance covers ordinary Iraqi passports. If you hold an Australian passport, check its entry conditions instead. If you use a refugee travel document or certificate of identity, have that exact document assessed before selecting an ordinary-passport application.

Australian residence alone does not place an Iraqi passport within the special UAE entry route available to certain other nationalities. Confirm the route for your own document, even if a friend with a different passport received a visa on arrival.

Keep your Iraqi national ID with the passport documents

The GDRFA single-entry tourist visa checklist specifically includes a country-of-origin identity card for Iraqi applicants. Australian residence evidence serves a different purpose; don't assume it replaces the Iraqi ID.

• Passport: a clear information-page copy, with at least six months' validity for this tourist route.
• Iraqi national ID: readable copies of the requested sides, including any information needed to identify the holder.
• Recent photograph: a clear colour passport-style image.
• Travel and insurance: an onward or UAE departure ticket and medical cover valid in the UAE.

For the online application, also have your passport-cover image, Australian visa evidence and hotel or host details ready. Follow the upload fields and any additional request for your file.

What if you don't have the requested ID?

Explain what document you hold before paying or submitting. Ask the application team whether it can be accepted and what else is needed. Uploading a different card without an explanation can leave the identity check unresolved.

Use the English name fields printed in your passport. If the spelling on your Iraqi ID or Australian record differs, flag it before submission. Ask whether a translation or supporting explanation is required; don't edit a scan or change the spelling yourself.

Dubai visa for Iraqi Australian PR holders

A Dubai tourist visa for Iraqis in Australia needs to cover both the length of the visit and the number of times you enter the UAE. Review the options below, then confirm what can be submitted for your passport and travel dates.

The standard GDRFA single-entry tourist service lists 30- and 60-day stays. Check the separate 14-day service before choosing it; Australian residence does not make an Iraqi passport eligible for the special residence-based 14-day entry category.

A Dubai stopover or a separate holiday?

If Dubai is your holiday destination, provide the arrival and departure dates for that stay. If you are visiting another country afterwards, use the actual onward itinerary rather than describing the trip as a return to Australia.

Check any second Dubai stop carefully. A single-entry visa does not provide another entry once you have left. If you want to visit the city on both legs, confirm arrangements for both entries before choosing a category.

Changing flights without entering Dubai

A connection entirely within the international transit area generally does not require a UAE entry visa. Confirm the baggage and ticket arrangements with your airline. A hotel visit outside the airport, baggage collection through immigration or a transfer between DXB and DWC involves entering the UAE.

Family members may have different requirements

Check each person's passport. An Iraqi-passport traveller and an Australian-passport relative can need different entry arrangements, even on the same booking. Enter each traveller separately and attach their own documents; don't reuse the lead applicant's identity or residence records for everyone.
