Wallis and Futuna to Dubai travel guide

Dubai Visa from Wallis and Futuna: Check Your Passport First

Planning a Dubai trip from Wallis and Futuna? If you travel on an ordinary French passport, you normally do not need to buy a tourist visa before an eligible short visit. If you live on the islands but hold another passport, check that passport’s UAE entry rule before booking your journey.

Where you depart and the passport you carry answer different questions. Your departure point affects flight connections; your passport and travel circumstances determine the entry route.

Do Wallis and Futuna Travellers Need a Dubai Visa?

Wallis and Futuna is a French overseas territory, not a separate passport nationality. Check the nationality and document type printed on the passport used for your trip.

French passport

Eligible French passport holders normally receive entry permission on arrival for short UAE visits. The permitted stay is up to 90 days in any 180-day period.

Another national passport

A resident travelling on a different passport follows that passport’s entry conditions. Some travellers need an approved visa before departure.

Non-standard document

If you use an emergency or other special travel document, confirm whether it is accepted before buying flights or submitting a tourist visa application.

For the complete French-passport explanation, read our French citizens’ Dubai entry guide. The UAE’s official entry guidance states the passport-validity and 90-in-180-day conditions.

How the French Passport’s 90-Day Allowance Works

For an eligible French passport holder, the 90 days are counted within a 180-day period. Leaving the UAE and returning does not automatically reset the allowance. If you have visited recently, check the days already used before booking another stay.

For example, a 20-day Dubai trip followed by another 25-day UAE visit within the same applicable 180-day period uses 45 days in total. The dates on your previous trips matter more than the date of your latest arrival.

This short-visit arrangement does not authorise employment or residence. If your purpose or intended stay falls outside it, check the appropriate route before travelling.

Documents to Check Before Departure

Carry the physical passport you will use at airline check-in and UAE immigration. For an ordinary French passport, UAE guidance states that it should remain valid for at least six months from entry. Check your airline booking against the passport name and document number.

Passport and ticket

Make sure names and travel dates match. Check the passport’s condition and expiry before confirming a multi-leg itinerary.

Trip details

Keep your return or onward itinerary, accommodation address and contact information accessible during travel.

Children’s documents

Each child needs an appropriate travel document. Check any consent or transit requirements that apply to your family’s route.

Planning Flights from Wallis or Futuna to Dubai

Allow time for connections between the islands and the long-haul part of your journey. Check the operating dates for every flight before fixing a Dubai hotel or event booking. A missed early sector can affect the rest of a separately booked itinerary.

Before paying, confirm whether baggage transfers to the next airline, whether a connection requires you to collect and recheck it, and whether you will leave the airport transit area. Transit-country rules are separate from UAE entry rules.

If your family uses different passports, check each traveller’s transit and UAE requirements individually. A French passport holder’s entry arrangement does not automatically apply to a companion.

  1. Open Get Visa and select the nationality printed on the passport you will use.
  2. Review the available stay duration and entry type for that passport.
  3. Enter the applicant’s details exactly as they appear on the passport.
  4. Upload the requested documents and review the final amount before paying.
  5. After approval, check the issued visa’s name, passport number, entry window and permitted stay before departure.

A residence address in Wallis and Futuna should not be entered as a separate passport nationality. If the form does not support your document type, ask our team before payment.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is there a separate Wallis and Futuna passport visa rule for Dubai?

Check the passport actually used for travel. Wallis and Futuna is a French territory; an ordinary French passport follows the French-passport UAE entry arrangement. A resident with another passport follows that passport’s rule.

Do French passport holders from Wallis and Futuna need a visa before flying?

Normally no for an eligible short visit. French passport holders can use the UAE arrival arrangement for up to 90 days within a 180-day period, subject to the entry conditions.

Does leaving Dubai reset the 90-day allowance?

No. Previous UAE days within the applicable 180-day period count toward the total. Review your travel dates before returning.

Can a foreign-passport resident apply online from Wallis and Futuna?

Check the visa route for the passport nationality, not the island of residence alone. If an advance tourist visa is needed and our service supports the passport, you can review the available option in the online application.

Do I need a Dubai transit visa during a flight connection?

It depends on your passport, whether you will enter the UAE and your flight arrangement. Remaining airside is different from passing immigration to collect baggage or visit the city.

Do transit stops in other countries follow UAE visa rules?

No. Check every intermediate country using your passport and itinerary. Separate tickets, baggage collection or an overnight stop may change what is required.
